Elementary

The elementary program at University Christian School is a wonderful combination of strong academic skills and character development. It is our desire to teach the whole child, from the heart to the mind and also to the body. Our academic emphasis is based on the A Beka curriculum, fast-paced lessons with a strong focus on reading. The early grades adhere closely to the phonetic lessons that produce strong and avid readers. Included in our reading program is the Accelerated Reading program. Our library offers over 3,000 titles and challenges all of our children to read beyond their readers. Included in the program is a system of fun awards and prizes for reaching various reading levels.

In addition to the strong reading program, our curriculum offers challenging lessons in math, science, health, language, and history. Field trips taken by the elementary classes are an extension to the classroom learning.

Our elementary program is rich with extra classes, including:

Music
Art
Physical Education
Library
Computer

Our children enjoy dressing out in their PE uniforms for daily conditioning and athletic activities. In art, our children are exposed to varied textures and mediums while creating works that are displayed on our walls and entered in contests. The singing in the music classes produces performances for parents and the community. Basic computer skills are taught to our upper elementary, while the younger child learns to reason and think through skill games. All of this is accomplished in our beautiful elementary computer lab.

Chapel, scripture memorization, and Bible lessons are a strong part of our elementary program. Our halls resound with the lessons learned from the Word of God as we practice the Golden Rule and other important kingdom principles.

Our elementary program is a happy and safe place for maximum learning to take place.
