Kindergarten
University Christian School boasts two kindergarten classes whose focus is to grow and develop our children mentally, socially, physically and spiritually. Our goal is to prepare our children for academic success in first grade.
More importantly, is our desire for our kindergarten children to grow in wisdom. Knowledge is gained from books, but wisdom comes strictly through the Word of God. Our children are given an outstanding Christian education that combines Biblical truths with creative teaching in a non-denominational format.
In the classroom, the Bible serves as the supreme authority on character development issues such as honesty, sharing, forgiveness, respect for others, responsibility, obedience, and trustworthiness. Our children are reminded that God loves them and created them as a unique and special person.

Our weekly enrichment units cover subjects in science and social studies. Individual, partnered, and whole group activities allow our children to grow through a variety of hands-on experiences. Enrichment beyond the classroom includes art, PE, music, library, cooking, and computer. Field trips and special events on campus complete the kindergarten program.
Academically, our K5 program strives to accomplish the following by year end:
Ability to write numbers 1 to 100
Ability to count and write by 10's, 5's and 2's
Ability to add numbers with sums up to 10
Ability to read simple sentences with one-vowel words with many students using two vowel words and special sounds
Reading that involves sentences and stories |
